Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe

From Steve Reynolds at All Spin Zone:

Who should the Republicans turn to for advice on the economic stimulus plan? These House and Senate Republicans are quite used to supporting the incompetence of the Bush Administration, so they’ve decided to bring in an unlicensed plumber and tax cheat, Joe Wurlzebacher, to advise them on the economy. I kid you not.

joeYes, boys and girls, fresh from his stint as Joe the War Correspondent (and fresh out of a job what with Pajamas Media winding down and all) comes the next installment of “Insert Quarter for Additional 15 Minutes of Fame.” Yes, it’s time for Joe the Economic Advisor.

The meeting was Tuesday morning, a little weekly get together of Republican congressional staffers to plot strategy for the week. I can only imagine what Joe, or Sam, or whoever he is, told them.

On second thought, I’d rather not. But it sure seems the Republicans have no more dignity left, and clearly no thought to actually addressing the very serious economic issues we have.

If it weren’t so damned late, I’d even talk about the “stimulus” bills being bandied about on Capitol Hill, as if the economy is still “basically sound,” as the last administration told us for years, and all it needs is a little stimulation.

The economy’s in the crapper, people. The Democratic bill isn’t call a stimulus bill. It’s a recovery bill because we need to recover from the disaster the people who brought us Joe the whatever he is this week left us. And, apparently, would keep us.

And god only knows if the recovery bill will get us out of the hole. I imagine it might help at least a little — and that would be a far sight more than whatever the Grand Obstructionist Party wants. Geez, even the economist they quoted supporting their plan said they were full of it.

But that’s okey dokey. Joe’ll fix everything.

  1. When court jesters get to talk economics I think it’s time to pack a bag and get out of town pronto. ‘Cept the Repugs have been pissing on the legs of most foreign countries for over eight years now – so I think the only way to live elsewhere is to pretend Canadian citizenship.

Seriously, this econ mess is boiling down to a simple fact: It’s the filthy rich against everyone else. That’s it.

  2. Joe should fit in just fine with the GOP. He lives in a fantasy world, obviously doesn’t have to work for a living, spouts ridiculous opinions and lies a lot. What more could the GOP ask?
