Srsly?
AWOP’s Monday thru Friday look at the absurd.
Srsly? is a little short today — your humble reporter was a tad busy. Apologies.
Think the debt ceiling debacle is over? Think again
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has a warning for future presidents; No debt ceiling increases.
It set the template for the future. In the future, Neil, no president — in the near future, maybe in the distant future — is going to be able to get the debt ceiling increased without a re-ignition of the same discussion of how do we cut spending and get America headed in the right direction. I expect the next president, whoever that is, is going to be asking us to raise the debt ceiling again in 2013, so we’ll be doing it all over.
Here we go again
Republicans are stoopid. Yes they are. Rep. Doug Lamborn said being associated with President Obama was akin to “touching a tar baby.” Whoops. Mitt Romney and John McCain used the same phrase and apologized, but these days racist bullshit is acceptable. Don’t hold your breath on an apology. I’m betting Lamborn said exactly what he meant and knew what it meant too.
