Call for Your Coming Out Story: October 11th, National Coming Out Day

On October 11th, our great GLBT community will be celebrating its annual National Coming Out Day.

Man, I love to hear coming out stories.  All kinds, but especially from people of my age – you know, middle-age – I candramamasks relate.  I came out at 35.  It was tough.  I had a lot of very difficult choices to make.  But, I had to do it.  Couldn’t walk around in my shoes any longer the other way.

There is beauty in truth.  We each come to it in our own way.  But, it’s like The Dramas – one side of our story may be heartwarming or humorous but each story has usually got a flip side – the tragedy, pathos, and angst.  Ours is as unique as the number of possible DNA matches in the world.

When we share out story with others in our community, it weaves a thread of commonality between us.  We become one loosely-stitched rainbow-shaded community simply by sharing our lore.  Our history.  Our common triumphs and pain.

Today, as we struggle for recognition for ourselves and our families, I hope you will consider sharing your story with me so I can share it with our readers.  You can choose to remain anonymous.  Please send it to:  lori (at) hahnathome (dot) com

Join our brothers and sisters this year at the National Equality March on Washington DC on October 11, 2009 – National Coming Out Day.  For more information, you can go here:  National Equality March
