We have a huge show coming up this Sunday! Which also happens to be my 50th birthday. Yikes. So, I’ll be spending at least the show part of it talking with some people you may have heard of around the progressive blogosphere!
Wendell Potter, Insurance industry whistle blower, watch dog and author of the book Deadly Spin will be joining us to talk about the atrocity that is the for profit healthcare industry in America.
Lucinida Marshall is a researcher looking at insurance issues related to the new Health Care Reform laws are and will be affecting people situations such as pre-existing conditions or moving insurance from State to State as many people are finding necessary as they range farther from home in search of work in other states. She will also share her research on how High Risk Pools are pricing people out the care they need.
Vanessa Beck is the new Director of Organizing at Healthcare NOW a nationwide organization fighting to preserve and expand Medicare to all who need it.
Healthcare-NOW! is a grassroots organization that addresses the health insurance crisis in the U.S. by educating and advocating for the passage of single-payer healthcare legislation, such as HR 676. We support building the movement necessary to implement a publicly-funded, single-payer healthcare system that is universal, equitable, transparent, accountable, comprehensive, and that removes financial and other barriers to the right to health.
and… as if that were not enough for one action packed show…
We finish off the night with a roundtable discussion with Mad as Hell Doctors, Phillip Kaufmann, Mike Huntington and Paul Hochfeld. Mad As Hell Doctors are physicians and other advocates who in August 2009 decided that we were indeed mad as hell about the cruel and inefficient system of health care that we have in the US.
